Day 10 of Cross-Country Trip -- STILL in Utah -- and LOVING IT!

So how many of you heard me yell "OH MY GOSH - NO FREAKIN WAY!" around 1:00 PM EST today??

We started out the day with breakfast at the hotel followed by a one hour drive to Bryce Canyon National Park. We stopped in Red Canyon, just outside the park and took some pictures and then headed to Bryce's visitor center. After getting the park passport stamp and a map, we headed to the back of the park as usual.

For some reason, Daniel & Patrick chose today as their first day on the trip to have a rough day. It did not start well at all for either one of them. They were both ignoring us when we asked them to do something or not do something and were extremely stubborn. THEN - we got out at the first stop in the back of the park - Rainbow Pointe I think - and Don says "look!" I yelled "OH MY GOSH - NO FREAKIN WAY!"

As we were getting out of the van a raven flew right in front of us and landed - and just looked right at us. Daniel suddenly starts smiling and saying "look Mommy - Mr. Bird found us again!" Don & I thought - there is NO way this is the same raven. But - he had the same little mark above his leg on one side. Crazy. Scary. Impossible. Insane. A sign. And a million other thoughts went through my mind.

We of course took a picture of the raven to prove he was there again - prove to who I'm not sure - but then we went and walked to two overlooks. We got back in the van and the fireworks between Don & Patrick continued. It was not a pleasant drive through the park today. However, at every stop the same raven found us. How - I don't know. I gave up trying to understand or explain it.

We finished Bryce Canyon around 2:30 and decided to try to make it at least to the visitor center at Zion. We arrived at the east entrance to Zion right at 4 PM and started the drive through the park to get to the visitor center. As we're driving through - Don is taking pictures while I drive and we were talking about how amazing it was. Awesome, amazing, incredible - I seem to keep using the same adjectives over and over. But it's so true - each day we see something even more amazing than the day before. It's such an incredible experience.

We made it to the visitor center before it closed, got our stamp and took a picture. Then we go to get in our van. Waiting beside the door - you guessed it - was the raven. Again - I give up trying to explain or understand. I just know he was there. We got ANOTHER picture of the bird and went to do as much of the scenic loop drive as we could before dark. We made it the entire length of the drive and got a ton of pictures - including a couple more with the raven - aka Mr. Bird. We exited the park at 6 PM and found ourselves at the Pioneer Restaurant. It was a good, quick meal and then it was back in the car for an hour to get to the next hotel.

We checked in fairly quickly. The boys were already asleep and they stayed that way. We got settled and as I came over to type my blog, I was thinking - I REALLY would LOVE to have a day to just sit in a hotel and do nothing - just for ONE day. No driving - no sightseeing - no nothing. Just relaxing. Since that's not going to happen anytime soon - I guess I'll go get some sleep. It's off to Vegas, Death Valley and Barstow tomorrow. Now if that raven crosses the Utah state line and shows up in Nevada or California, I think you may have to start sending your mail and calls to the funny farm because that's where I'm going to end up!!!!!!
