Cross Country Trip - Day 1

I rolled out of bed this morning at 6:00 to make sure I was ready to go pick up our rental car at 7. Chris drove me to the place - which seemed to be in the middle of nowhere - if that's possible on Staten Island. The car wasn't ready - but we were able to get it and get out of there pretty quick. After loading the luggage (thanks to Outward Bound there wasn't that much!) and the kids - we got in the car and took off for Huntington, WV.

It was a very long but uneventful drive. We stopped to eat at TGI Fridays and swore we'd never eat at one of those again. It was gross. We arrived in Huntington at 9:30. We knew the hotel pool closed at 10 PM - so we rushed through check-in, got in the room and immediately changed the boys into their swimsuits for the promised swim. They had napped LATE so they were awake still. We were in the pool less than 20 minutes - but that's all they needed. They JUST fell asleep at 10:30. Tomorrow will be a very long day! They probably won't get up til late and now their whole schedule will be off. Oh well - at least we change time zones tomorrow!!!
